There are some variations to the Minor Scale.
A Minor Scale with the 7th degree raised is called an Harmonic Minor Scale.

1. Write the notes of the scale. (A to A, D to D, etc.)
2. Use the Key Signature from the Related Major Scale. (up 3 semi- tones)
3. Raise the 7th degree of the scale.

Another variation of the Minor Scale is the Melodic Minor Scale.
It is created by raising the 6th and 7th degrees of a Minor Scale as you ascend (go up) the scale and lowering the 6th and 7th degrees as you descend (go down) the scale.
