Even though we only use 7 letter names in music there are actually more than 7 notes between a "C" and the next "C."
If you look at a Piano Keyboard you will notice that there are 12 keys (black & white) between "C" and the next "C."
The 7 letter names are for the white keys. There are black keys between all the white keys except between E/F and B/C.
The distance between any two adjacent notes (side by side) is called a 1/2 step or a "semitone."
Flat sign
To lower a note by a "semitone" we use an "accidental" called a "flat." It looks like a small case "b."
Ab would be the black note to the left of A. Bb would be the black note to the left of B.
Db would be the black note to the left of D. etc., etc., etc.,
On a guitar a "semitone" is 1 fret.
Ab would be 1 fret to the left of A. Bb would be 1 semitone to the left of B.
Db would be 1 fret to the left of D. etc. etc.,etc.
