DottedQuarter Notes

We know that a dot (.) after a note adds half the value of the note.

We know that a quarter note = 1 beat;

We know that 1/2 of 1 = 1/2;

We know that 1 + 1/2 = 1.5

Therefore a quarter note (1 beat) with a dot (1/2 of 1 =1/2 beat ) = 1.5 beats.

A quarter note rest with a dot also = 1.5 beats.
