Leger Lines

There are notes which are higher or lower than the Bass Clef, Treble Clef or even the Grand Staff.

To write these notes we use small horizontal lines called Leger Lines.

In fact Middle C is 1 Leger Line below the Treble Clef and 1 Leger Line above the Bass Clef.

Rests

Musical Notes on a Staff tell us what to play, when to play and how long to play.

However, it is just as important to know when not to play.

Silence in music is indicated by rests

Since we have whole notes, half notes and quarter notes we also have whole rests, half rests and quarter rests.
