AMM: Audacity 4: Using Effects in Audacity

- Open Audacity
- Start/ Progams/ Audacity [DOC: Audacity ICON]{Go/Applications/Audacity}
|
- Open the following file:
- 4Students/Out/ThompsonPa/Music_Computers/Digital
Exercises/ex1-1644

- Duplicate this file onto 3 other tracks.
- You should then have 4 tracks with the same file.
- Apply a different "effect" to each track.

- "Mute" the other 3 tracks, so you are only listening to one track.
- Highlight the entire track.
- It will have a gray background.
- Select an "effect."
- Adjust the parameters of the effect.
- You may select "Preview" to hear the effect applied to a small part of the track.
- Click "OK" to apply the effect the whole track.

- Repeat for the other tracks using a different effect for each track.
- Try to experiment with different effects and with the parameters, to get a good understanding of your effects.

- Using a word processor write a brief description of what each effect does to the original track.
- Try to use your own words to describe what happens to the music and to the sounds.
- Save each track as an individual .wav file.
- Select the track.
- Name the file with your name and the effect.
- Create a folder and put the .wav files, and your word processor file into the folder.
- Hand the folder as your name into:
- 4Students/In/ThompsonPa/Music_Computers/Audacity4
